Questions to ask before you let an AI talk to your WhatsApp customers: cover illustration with The Wise Parrot mascot
Short answerBefore any AI replies from your business WhatsApp, ask nine things: where its answers come from, whether it can invent leads or results, whether it replaces your team, how a customer reaches a real person, what happens to sensitive questions, how it sounds, when it can go live, whether it can promise sales, and what you will be able to see. A safe setup answers only from facts you approved, hands over to a person when needed, and cannot promise sales.

You are right to be careful. Your WhatsApp number is not just a number. It is your reputation. Customers message it because they trust you, and one wrong or rude reply from it feels like it came from you. So before you let any AI into those chats, ask the questions below. They work with any provider, and an honest one will be happy to answer each of them.

1. Will it invent answers?

Ask the provider one simple thing: "Where do the answers come from?" A safe setup answers only from facts your business has approved, like your services, timings, locations and process. When it doesn't know, it should say "let me check with the team" instead of guessing. The Wise Parrot qualifies and replies against the facts you approve, and passes the rest to your team.

2. Will it invent leads or results?

It should not, and you should ask how it reports what really happened in your chats. If a report shows "leads" you can't find in your own WhatsApp, that is a warning sign. The Wise Parrot does not invent leads; it works only with the people your ads already bring to your number.

3. Does it replace my sales team?

It should support your team, not replace it. The AI's job is the middle stretch: replying, asking the right qualifying question, and following up from what the customer already said. Then it gives your team a clear next action, or hands the chat to a person when a human step is needed. Your team still closes. For how good qualification looks before a chat reaches sales, read how to qualify a WhatsApp enquiry before sales.

4. Can my customer reach a real person?

Yes, and at any time. Ask the provider exactly how a handover works: what the customer types, who on your team receives the chat, and whether the context goes along with it so the customer doesn't have to repeat themselves. With The Wise Parrot, a customer can ask for a person at any time.

Example chat: illustrative

Customer: I want to talk to a person.
Business: Of course. I’m passing your message to [team member] right now, with what you told us about [need] and [preferred time]. They’ll talk to you right here.
Customer: Okay, thanks.

No price, timing or promise is given. The request goes to a named person with context attached.

5. What happens to sensitive questions?

Some questions should only be answered by a qualified person. In a clinic, that is anything clinical. In other businesses, it can be legal or money questions. Ask the provider which topics go straight to a person, and who decides that list. You do. See how this works in a clinic in how to make a clinic WhatsApp appointment feel human.

6. How does it sound?

Ask to see example chats in your customers' language, Hinglish included. Then check two things: does it answer the question the customer actually asked, and does it sound like your business? If every reply pushes a menu ("Reply 1 for Services") instead of answering, your customer will feel handled, not heard. The tone should feel like a polite, well-trained person from your team.

7. When can it go live?

Be careful of anyone who gives you a quick fixed date before knowing your business. A safe start is one controlled journey, for example one ad and one type of enquiry, and it goes live only after training on your approved facts and your approval. With The Wise Parrot, the first controlled journey follows training and your approval. Nothing reaches your customers before you say yes.

8. Can it promise sales?

No. No honest provider can promise sales, and The Wise Parrot cannot either. What it is built to do is reply to each enquiry from the facts you approved, keep the context, and hand your team a clear next step. It can also show you which chats are stuck, so you know what to fix.

9. What will I be able to see?

You should be able to see which chats are stuck, and where. That means not just message counts, but which buying conversations stopped moving and at what step: after the first reply, after the details, or before the call. The Wise Parrot shows the owner which chats are stuck. Ask any provider to show you this view on a real screen, not a slide.

How to test it yourself

You don't need to trust a pitch. Test it in three steps:

  • [ ] Ask for example chats on your own common questions. Give the provider the questions your customers ask you again and again, in their own words, and read the replies.
  • [ ] Check how a handover works. Type "I want to talk to a person" and see who gets it, and with what context.
  • [ ] Check what you, the owner, can see. Ask to see where stuck chats show up.

If a provider gets all three right, you can make a calm decision. If not, you have saved your number from a bad reply.

If you want help on that one number

The Wise Parrot is an intelligence layer on WhatsApp for businesses running ads. On your one WhatsApp number it replies, qualifies against facts you approve, keeps context, and hands your team a clear next action, while you see which chats are stuck. Your team still closes the sale. Think of it as a digital business friend for your WhatsApp. See how it works, or contact the team to book a demo. For anything about cost, the contact page is the place to ask. More answers are on the FAQ page, and you can browse industries.
